Foot and Signature Flower Design 

     Now that the main body of our wooden piece is nearly complete, the business of finalizing the foot and carving a flower on the bottom (part of our signature) is next in order. We feel that the foot receives the least attention on most wood turnings. For that simple fact, we intentionally give it extra consideration.

     The piece is removed from the chuck and re-chucked on the opposite side to provide us access to the bottom of the piece. It is then leveled and blended into the base. We then prepare an area for the flower carving. Once the foot is completed and sanded, the piece will once again find itself mounted to the woodcarving bench ready for the next step.
